Around 800 A.D., Charlemagne was granted the crown and Christmas was back in the limelight. The Puritans banned Christmas in the 17th century because of its association with drunkenness and other bad behavior.

Although it was officially declared a holiday in 1660, it was still not well-known. The revival of Christmas was made possible by the Oxford movement, which was part of the Anglican Communion church.

Christmas preparations

Christmas is a cultural festival that requires a lot preparations. People get a Christmas holiday because it is a public holiday.

Most people start Christmas preparations early so that Christmas celebrations can begin the day before. There are many activities involved in preparing for Christmas. Most people buy Christmas decorations, food, gifts, and presents for their children and family. Many families buy matching Christmas outfits for their children.

Common preparations include decorating the house with Christmas trees and lighting. The house must be thoroughly cleaned before decorations can begin. The Christmas tree is a great way to bring Christmas spirit into homes.

Presents are placed under Christmas trees in gift boxes wrapped in paper and not opened until Christmas Day. For this special occasion, the church is decorated. To welcome Christmas, the churches are cleaned thoroughly. On Christmas Day, songs and skits will be performed.

Christmas is a big event for people. Therefore, saving money should be a priority. Families plan to travel together to celebrate this holiday. Turkey is traditionally the most common holiday meal in the world. To wish family and friends a happy holiday, and to show affection, cards are sent.

Christmas Day Celebration

To mark Christmas, radios and televisions play Christmas carols. Families start their day by going to church, where they can enjoy performances and sing along. Later, they will join their families for a time of sharing gifts and celebrating with food and music. Christmas is a time of joy unlike any other.

Special Christmas treats include homemade traditional plum cakes, muffins, and cupcakes. Children are given lots of gifts and new clothes. They are also able to meet Santa Claus, dressed in a red-and-white fluffy costume who gives them hugs and presents.
